Billing criteria

Fees are determined based on objective criteria, reflecting the complexity and value of the case, as well as the level of commitment required. Our firm upholds transparency, ensuring prior disclosure of costs with no hidden charges. All fees are quoted in euros (€) and include applicable taxes in Italy: 15% for lump-sum reimbursement, 4% for the Social Insurance Fund for lawyers, and 22% for VAT. Preferred payment methods include bank transfer, credit card, or certified digital platforms.

Engagement Plans

We believe in transparency and clarity. Our pricing is based on objective criteria, reflecting the complexity and value of your case, with no hidden costs. Below, you’ll find our four main fee structures, designed to fit different types of legal assistance.

A clear, structured session to address your concerns and offer guidance. Gain insights, protect your interests, and make informed choices before taking action.

The Consultancy Session represents the initial and pivotal stage in securing legal assistance. It serves as a cornerstone for delving into the client’s concerns and inquiries.

Throughout this session, clients can anticipate receiving answers to pressing questions regarding their case, a comprehensive explanation of their rights and obligations under the law, and a clear, straightforward overview of the potential outcomes. In cases where the consultation pertains to purchasing procedures, such as acquisitions of properties offered for sale through judicial auctions or by public administration (e.g., one-euro homes), clients will receive a detailed briefing.

This will furnish them with the necessary information and guidance to conduct thorough independent research and to make well-informed decisions. Once the case has been accepted, the client is required to provide us with a concise overview of the situation, outlining their top 3 or 4 objectives/main concerns and any key questions they may have. Additionally, they are requested to attach any pertinent documents for our initial review. Subsequently, we will meticulously study the case and documents before scheduling the consultation. For this reason, the consultancy session is the only service that requires full payment in advance. Similar to our other legal services, the costs associated with the consultancy session vary depending on the complexity and value of the case. We can tailor the fee to match the specific requirements of the case, utilizing certain value thresholds as a guideline.

After the initial consultancy session, timed assistance is a strategic legal support for non-litigious and consultancy practices with a defined or reasonably estimable duration.

After the initial consultancy session, timed assistance provides structured legal support for non-litigious matters over a defined period. This service is designed for clients who require ongoing guidance, whether for contract negotiations, compliance matters, or other legal concerns outside the courtroom.

We offer two primary billing methods:

  1. Flat Fee for a Defined Period
A set fee covering the entire assistance period. This approach ensures cost predictability and often results in savings compared to hourly billing.

  2. Hourly Rate Based on Actual Work Performed
A fixed hourly fee applies to specific tasks, such as the review or drafting of individual contracts.

Regardless of the chosen method, an initial case initiation fee is required, determined by the complexity and value of the case. Once initiated, all activities and time spent on behalf of the client are tracked, with periodic billing updates provided.
A hybrid approach combining both billing methods is often the most efficient. This involves a minimum flat fee base, supplemented by hourly billing for specific activities. This way, if work intensity decreases, clients save costs, while any additional expenses directly reflect the actual commitment of the firm.

A long-term partnership for continuous legal assistance. Secure priority access to legal expertise with a predictable cost structure.

Retainer services are designed for clients who seek ongoing and structured legal support, aiming for consistency and stability. It involves a monthly fee with the option to add hourly rates for additional tasks, agreed upon with the client.

The key benefits here include tailored service, with a customized service to suit the client’s individual needs and goals; no obligations, as either party can end retainer services at any time; cost saving as long as both the firm’s commitments and the client’s needs are clearly outlined.

Comprehensive legal support for litigation. Whether you’re initiating a case or defending your rights in court, we provide legal representation tailored to your needs.
Designed to cover legal representation for court cases for clients with active legal proceedings in Italy or those planning to start legal actions before an Italian court. These fees are determined by Italian law (Ministerial Decree No. 147 of 2022, currently in effect), which the IP&L Law Firm follows and uses as a reference.

Below are some indicative fees designed to provide clients with a general understanding of typical cost thresholds and the primary methods used to calculate our legal fees. It should be noted that each fee will be determined based on objective criteria, including the value and complexity of the matter. As such, costs may vary significantly depending on the specifics of each case.

Examples of reference thresholds for value and complexity may apply to services such as initial legal consultations with strategic analysis of documentation:

Low complexity – Value up to €250,000: €600

Medium complexity – Value between €250,000 and €850,000: €1,000

High complexity – Value over €850,000: €1,800

The same criteria may also apply in cases where the client opts for hourly billing. In such cases, an hourly rate will be agreed upon, calculated proportionally based on the actual complexity and value of the matter. This hourly fee will not be lower than €230/hour. These guidelines are purely indicative and do not constitute a binding offer. A tailored quotation will always be provided following an initial assessment of the specific case.
